Charles J. Pennock was born November, 18, 1857 in Kennet Square, PA to Samual and Deborah Pennock. He had an early interest in birds and their eggs and became a well-known ornithologist. He eventually served as Ornithologist of the Delaware Board of Agriculture, became a member of The Associate of the American Ornithologists' Union, and was an active member of the Delaware Valley Club. He served as President of the club from 1901-1903. His publications included notes, short papers and bird lists, and he also collected many books and pamphlets on American ornithology. He was married twice, and had four children. He died in 1935. *Biographical information was gathered by Emily Bergen from Witmer Stone's writing on Charles J. Pennock in the Proceedings of the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club.
