Born 1917-1918, author and educator George Morris Snyder was a native to Linwood, Pennsylvania. He received his bachelor’s degree from West Chester University when it was West Chester State College. He also earned a Master’s degree from Temple University in sociology and performed additional graduate work at California State University, University of Southern California, Claremont Graduate School, and University of California, Los Angeles. After World War II, Snyder accepted a teaching position at Redondo Union High School where he taught social studies. He taught at other schools in the state and resided both in Redondo and Manhattan Beach, California. Outside of his teaching career, Snyder coauthored Freshly Remembered, a biography of 1920’s and 30’s baseball star Wally Berger. Snyder also penned numerous other works. Later in life he moved to Northern California to be closer to family. He died June 6, 2000 in Windsor, California.
