This collection is divided into seven series: Correspondence, Departmental and Course Materials, Events, Promotional Materials, Publications, Artifacts and Ephemera and Workshops.
Series 1 Correspondencefeatures letters between faculty and staff about students and alumni, departmental regulations and invitations, and programs.
Series 2 Departmental and Course Materials includes materials related to curriculum planning, undergraduate and graduate degrees and programs, physical activity, exercise, health education, fitness, athletics, and more.
Series 3 Events has programs from various events sponsored by the department. These programs include circus programs, miscellaneous gymnastic programs featuring national and Olympic teams, the Quadrennial Demonstration, and Wayne Field Sports Programs.
Series 4 Promotional Materials features newsclippings, flyers, and brochures on health and physical education.
Series 5 Publications includes publications authored by faculty, staff, and students from the department. They range from bulletins to research papers to publication lists.
Series 6 Artifacts and Ephemera includes pins, medals, certificates amd ribbons from various departmental events.
Series 7 Community and School Health Education Workshop features documents that detail lesson plans and activities for various health and physical education workshops for students and the West Chester community.

Biographical / Historical
West Chester University's Health and Physical Education major trains educators and promotes lifetime physical activity, fitness, and health through its undergraduate and graduate degrees, programs, and curriculum. The university has been offering health and physical education training since 1889.
The Health and Physical Education department is now within the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health Sciences. The program's faculty provide immersive experiences for students to interact with one another and local school communities through their curriculum, fieldwork, and collaborative opportunities. Through their curriculum, students become proficient in a wide range of physical activities. The program also offers minors in Coaching, Exercise Science, and Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities.
