Biographical / Historical
Born in 1924, Elizabeth "Betty" Nace Benner was the daughter of Emma Nace Benner and Lincoln M. Benner of Souderton, PA. She attended West Chester State Teachers College. While at college, Elizabeth partipated in on campus clubs and activities, including the Y.M.C.A., the Psychology Club, the Association for Childhood Education, and the Women's Recreational Association. She attended a fair amount of instrumental, opera, and dance performances at college. She also worked in the Speech Clinic on campus.
After graduating in 1945, Elizabeth was employed in Philadelphia as a social worker and joined a local chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She worked in Hawaii for 5 years and upon moving back to Pennsylania, she taught in the Plymouth Whitemarsh School District. Then, Elizabeth was a second-grade teacher at the J. Henry Specht Elementary School in Kulpsville, PA.
Elizabeth Nace Benner passed away on June 22, 1975 at the age of 51 in Hatfield, PA.
