Biographical / Historical

The Women's Dormitory Council was a student organization at West Chester State Teachers College and West Chester State College. The Women's Dormitory Council served as a Women's Government group and functioned as an intermediary between students and administration. Elected members for the organization represented students' concerns and interests to the administration at meetings. These meetings led to the formation and implementation of updated policies and procedures for female students. The Women's Dormitory Council held several social events throughout the year for female students who were residents on campus, including after dinner coffee meetups and dances, as well as the Big Sister-Little Sister Program

Related groups include the Women's Day Student Council, which represented female students who commuted to West Chester, and the Advisory Board, which liaised between the Women's Dormitory Council and the Women's Day Council. All of these organizations comprised the Women's Government and were directed by the Dean of Women at the college.
