The West Chester University Valkyrie Club Collection is divided into two series: Memorabilia and Photographs.

Series 1 Memorabilia features several issues of Purple and Gold publication at West Chester, information about the Valkyrie Club, Valkyrie Club mugs, and a scrapbook, sign, and logo.

Series 2 Photographs include reproductions of group photographs of the Valkyrie Club from 1928, 1944, 1955, 1960, and 1973, as well as a DVD with images from the 1951 Valkyrie Club Show and Graduation.

Biographical / Historical

The Valkyrie Club was a club focused on service, consisting of sophomore and up Health and Physical Education students. They were founded around 1930 with three main tenants: social development, educational advancement, and helping others.

The club raised money for various causes and organized fundraising dances and shows. The letters of “Valkyrie” stand for: V- Valhalla, A- Able, L- Leaders, K- Knightly, Y- Youthful, R- Reliable, I- Idealistic, E- Earnest, S- Sincere.
