This growing collection contains nearly 400 items including books, clippings, sound and video recordings, collectibles and ephemera of Clement C. Moore's 1823 poem, "An Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas or: The Night Before Christmas." The Night Before Christmas Collection is the result of the Perrones' years of book collecting. The first volume purchased was an 1896 version of the poem illustrated by the McLoughlin Brothers. The focus of the collection is on the illustration of the poem from its first publishing date to today. The majority of the materials in the collection wasdonated by Barbara Loftus Perrone in honor of her husband, Charles C. Perrone; additionally, materials have been purchased by the library and other interested librarians.

Biographical or Historical Information
Barbara Loftus Perrone (Class of 1956) and her husband, Charles C. Perrone (Class of 1950), met at West Chester University in 1954. They had three children, who also attended West Chester. The couple enjoyed collecting; as a result they acquired a large library of unique titles and first editions. Charles C. Perrone died in 1999.
