The collection is arranged thematically into ten series: Series I, Activities; Series II, Celebrations; Series III, Conferences; Series IV, Festivals; Series V, Forums; Series VI, Lectures; Series VII, Programs; Series VIII, Rallies; Series IX, Seminars; and Series X, Workshops. Available documents begin in the 1890s. It is an ongoing collection in consideration of future events.

Overview
Over the past 150 years, West Chester University has hosted a variety of social and political events from celebrations to conferences to workshops, and more. This collection gathers flyers and documents from these events, ranging from West Chester Normal School to West Chester University as we know it today. This collection offers a portrait of this school and its past students and faculty.
Historical Note
West Chester University was founded as West Chester Normal School in 1871. Students attended a two-year course in elementary education. In 1927, it was renamed West Chester State Teachers College, changing once again in 1960 to West Chester State College. Finally, in 1971, it was officially classified as a university. Its full title is West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Many students and faculty have organized events over the years.
