This collection is divided into three series: Series 1, West Chester State Normal School includes the papers of Andrew Thomas Smith (1920-1927); Series 2, West Chester State Teachers College includes the papers of Norman W. Cameron (1927-1935); Series 3, West Chester University of Pennsylvania includes the papers of Stanley Yarosewick (1992), Linda Lamwers (2008), and Greg Weisenstein (2008-2016).

Biographical / Historical

Andrew Thomas Smith (10 September 1862-8 February 1928) was Principal of West Chester State Normal School from 1920 to 1926 and, when the institution became West Chester State Teachers College, his title changed to President and he continued his tenure from 1926 through the fall of 1928. He retired due to poor health, and passed away only a few months later. He graduated from West Chester State Normal School in 1883. This series contains administrative correspondence (1922-1926), his inscribed 1914 yearbook, and articles from the student newspaper about him (1970-1999).

Norman W. Cameron (27 September 1876-19 February 1946) was President of West Chester State Teachers College from 1927 to 1935. This series contains administrative correspondence from 1928 to 1935.

Stanley Yarosewick (1939-present) was Interim President of West Chester University in the 1991-1992 school year. He also served as provost and vice president for academic affairs. Originally from Exeter, NH, he earned a BA from the University of New Hampshire and an MA and PhD in physics at Clarkson College of Technology in New York. After he left West Chester in 1994, he served as president of Keene State College from 1995 to 2005 until his retirement. This series contains administrative correspondence from 1991 to 1992.

Linda Lamwers (October 8 1949-present) was Interim President of West Chester University in the 2008-2009 school year.

Greg R. Weisenstein (1947-present) was the President of West Chester University from 2009 to 2016. He received his BA and MA from the University of Washington and his doctorate in Education from the University of Kansas. He held administrative positions at Montana State University and the University of North Dakota prior to coming to West Chester. The series contains newspaper clippings and publicity material dating from 2009 to 2011.
