The West Chester University Office of Development Collection contains materials related to the Office of Development’s purpose, evolution, and related organizations. The collection includes administrative, promotional, and scholarship materials as well as fundraising and financial planning information. While these materials date from the late 1800s to early 2000s, a majority of them are from the 1960s to early 2000s. The Office of Development is now known as the Advancement Division department of West Chester University and works closely with the West Chester University Foundation.
Biographical / Historical
The West Chester University (WCU) Office of Development was established to raise private financial support for the university, WCU students, programs, and facilities from alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents, foundations, and more. The office leads annual alumni fund appeals and scholarships, overseeing fundraising campaigns, and hosts related fundraising and promotional activities and events. They also publish communications that inform students, donors, and the community about WCU and its value and services.
They work closely with support scholarship organizations that advance their mission, which include, but are not limited to: West Chester University Foundation, the WCU Alumni Association, the Swope Foundation, and the W. Glenn Killinger Foundation. The Office of Development is now the Advancement Division department and works closely with the West Chester University Foundation, a separately incorporated, independent non-profit (501(c) (3)) organization.
